Do we know when to replace the tires we currently use? Do you encounter scratches, bulges and nails in your tires, and is it time to replace them? Here we give you some tire replacement basics.
When to replace tires
1. Tires that are 10 years old from the date of manufacture
We recommend that car tires, light truck tires, and spare tires that have been used for 5 years or more should be inspected in detail at least once a year. Any tire that is 10 years old or older from the date of manufacture is recommended to be replaced immediately to ensure safe use.
2. Tire bulging
Tires should always be replaced once they become cracked or bulged. Tire bulging is the result of cord breakage, excessive pressure inside the tire, extremely flat tire accident. Tires must be replaced!
3. Obvious warning signs
Tread depth ≤ 2/32” (using the quarter test method)
Sidewall cracks deeper than 3 mm
Bumps or cords exposed
4.Performance indicators:
Constant vibration at high speeds
Multiple air leaks per month
More than three times to repair the tire
5. Tire Importer's Pro Tip
Inventory rotation: Prioritize tires produced within the last 18 months
Storage solutions: Recommend climate-controlled warehouses to your customers
In Latin America, some factors specific to the region also affect tires. For example, strong UV radiation accelerates rubber degradation.
Rough road conditions and commercial vehicles that are often overloaded are all factors you need to be aware of.
